3 Primary Research methods to help find out about locations and studio setup:
- Interview a presenter such as Georgie Wright. Advantage- Would know Quite a lot about MTV, the studio and locations due to first hand experience. Disadvantage- Hard to access due to them being busy.
- Market Research. Advantage- Can find accurate information from professional TV companies. Disadvantage- Can be time consuming.
- Focus Groups. Advantages- Can talk face to face and get information about music TV channel locations. Disadvantage- Can be time consuming and might be difficult to find a time when everyone is free.

Advantage- Likely to give accurate information about the studio setup and location. Using Primary or Secondary research methods what locations are featured across programmes on music TV channels and music TV news programmes specifically?
- Concerts
- when a music TV channel hosts a concert can be broadcasted live or recorded to show later on the channel.
- an example of this is Capital FMs summertime ball at the O2 arena.
- This is good because it allows artist to perform to a large audience.
- it would most likely appeal to a teenage audience as they are more interested in the music genres present at the shows.
- Houses
- This could be included in a reality TV show.
- An example of this could be Teen mom.
- Teen Mom is an American reality TV show tat follows the lives of teen mums in their daily lives inside the house and out.
- This would appeal to a young audience, specifically teenage girls as they are able to see into the lives of other people their kind of age who are living such different lives or maybe even for some, similar lives.
- Inside a studio
- when a music TV channel has a news show which updates viewers on current events the host usually is in either a home studio or a studio warehouse.
- An example of this is Entertainment Tonight with the presenter Hallie Stephens filmed in her home with a camera and microphone but the majority of the video was comprised of clips from the Ariana Grande music video the segment was about.
- The audience for this specific episode would be mainly teenage girls or Ariana fans.
- At award shows/red carpet events
- When celebrities attend these events there are presenters present to interviewing them for their show
- An example of this it Little Mix at the MTV VMA award show.
- This is appealing because the audience get to hear the thoughts of celebrities on the red carpet. It would most likely appeal to a younger audience such as teenagers.
- In city's
- Sometimes in reality TV shows they follow the people around while they do things such as shopping in the cities.
- an example of this would be MTV's the Hills new beginnings.
